First Post 'My life up to now'

Hi! Welcome to my world!!!!

It's really not that exciting but I thought i'd join the BLOG craze and post my life on the internet. Firstly, i should probably tell you a bit about myself. I was born on the 15/5/1984 (that makes me 22 for those who can't do the math) and spent the first 17 and a half years of my life in wonderful Mount Gambier in South Australia (home of the amazing, colour-changing Blue Lake) Life was great with Mum, Dad and my annoying older sister and ten-pin bowling champ younger brother. My world came crashing down when i was just 15 when my folks seperated and my dear ol' mum high-tailed it over to Texas to live with her internet fella. Dad was heartbroken my sister started rebelling, my brother blamed my father and i got sick of people asking me if i was alright. I think i handled it as best as i could. I just got on with my life. (Dad's happy now he married his own internet sheila and she's quite nice).

At the tender age of 17 and a half i ventured out of my family home and off i went to University (YAY!!). The freedom was rather short lived (the 7 hour bus trip to be exact) because i moved in with my grandparents in Adelaide where i spent 4 years pretending not to be drunk when i stumble home at 5am in the morning and putting up with 40's music (or even worse, vaccuming) at 9am Sun morning with the worst hangovers in the world. During the first year at uni, my sister moved to Brisbane to get away from all the bad influences in her life and my brother dropped out of school to work at BILO and got himself a serious girlfriend (she's very nice and they have just moved in together up in Adelaide. I started making some new friends as my friends in the Mount really had no ambitions in going to uni. My degree was a Bachelor of science and I was indroduced to the World of Earth Sciences. Field trips, cheap piss-ups, wierd dressed lecturers. I LOVED IT!! I also joined a band (i play clarinet) turned 18 (got smashed, legally) and was de-flowered (He was a Jerk)

During the Summer of this first year. I decided that i need a job, to stop relying on my folks for money. I joined in the door-to-door marketing crazy. I don't really wish to talk about it that much but i don't recommend it to anyone.

In second year, things got better. My friendship circle became tighter and the field trips more blurry. I think every Friday night was spent at the uni bar with happy hour and schnitzel and Chips. I was still living with my grand olds but i had a job working a Footy Park (now AAMI Stadium). I understand now why people bag out Port Supporters more than the Crow Supporters. I made some friends and began to build a tough skin to handle the abuse thrown at me for charging atrocious amounts of money to park in a shopping centre car park. ($8 if you care to know.

Third year at uni was the best. There were lots of fun field trips and had now decided that Geology was the way to go in life. The money would be good when i got a job and i could travel the world with my degree. I graduated from my B. Sc this year but was a sucker for the uni lifestyle and decided to do another year (honours)

Fourth year was hard and stressfull and full of days playing on Yahoo Games (Hamster Ball was the most addictive) I passed the year with 2nd class honours (Yay me!) and went off to Broken Hill to get some experience in the mining work force. It was fun, I met some interesting people, although there's only so much SG-1 i can handle at one time. Even though i was only there for 3 months, I met some rather nice people and went crazy the last week i was there ('cause i knew i wasn't going back in a long while)

This year, I made the big move interstate (to Perth) and started my first full-time Job as an Exploration Geologist and i work both in Perth and all the way up in the Pilbara. It is an interesting job. Sometimes boring when there isn't much to do in the office due to rain (we had 5 cyclones this year) or there are delays with the drilling. but other than that, i have made some good friends, met some interesting people, My social life is non-existant at the moment (not knowing too many people in perth) but i'm working on it. I Live with 2 guys in a flash place in City Beach and they are wonderful cooks (which is good because i don't cook) They are both geologists as well and work in mines in WA and the NT.

I saw X-men 3: the last stand yesterday. I didin't really like it that much. It disapointed me deeply and if you are a die-hard fan, you will be as dissapointed with it as much as i was.

I don't really think there's anything more to say. I hope my life isn't too boring and you continue to read this blog. It is something for me to do when i am away up at the mine and i have no real communications with the outside world. Also, I think it is a good way to vent my problems ( i have a numerous amount as you will see in coming posts) and get opinions from other people.

Signing off for now
Cheerio's

Cat :)
